Our Story

CutList Workspace was born out of real workshop frustration. As software engineers and avid woodworkers, we at CutList Workspace spent countless weekends building custom cabinets, shelving, and workbench projects in our garages. However, the process of planning cuts for sheet goods was always a chore. We tried using existing cut list calculators, but found they fell into three categories: outdated software from the early 2000s that required downloading installers, complicated web tools locked behind aggressive paywalls, or sites covered in intrusive popups that slowed down our browsers.

I wanted a tool that did one thing exceptionally well: generate highly optimized, physically accurate cut maps in a clean, modern interface, without requiring an account or credit card. So, we built CutList Workspace. What started as a simple script to help nested panel layouts for our own cabinet boxes quickly grew into a full-featured linear and sheet nesting optimizer. Today, the tool is used by hobbyist DIYers, professional cabinet makers, and metal fabricators all over the world to turn raw cut lists into step-by-step layout blueprints.
